If you have a service to provide customers or other businesses, that’s probably the easiest business to get started with. The problem that many business owners and entrepreneurs face is when they are selling something that they are unable to provide, and need to come up with some sort of a capital to start a business. Nothing wrong with that, it is just that you have more logistics to begin with, and require a startup capital.
In this blog post, we hope to share with entrepreneurs who have a service to provide a simple check list on what you will need to get a business started!
Once you have registered your business with ACRA, and incorporated your business, they would have given you some optional opt ins, which are corporate bank account opening and a .sg domain purchase.
It is optional, but my personal favourite are .com domains, however for some businesses, the .com domain you hope to purchase may not be available, so a .sg domain will be the perfect choice for you!
For those who are wondering, what’s the difference with a .com, .sg, .com.sg, .biz, .net domain. The key difference is that you need to be incorporated as a sole proprietor or a Pte Ltd to buy a .sg and/or a .com.sg domain name.
For F&B businesses, or startups like FoodPanda, Deliveroo you might want to purchase a variation of domains, from .com, .com.sg, to .sg domain names. As of today, I understand UBEReats only purchased the ubereats.com domain name, and ubereats.sg is not available for purchase, seems like the company might have bought it but did not link the possible traffic it might have gotten from ubereats.sg to ubereats.com.
This is to avoid competitors from buying similar domain name and “steal” your traffic or potential clients thinking it was you since the domain name has only a slight difference with either a .com, or a .com.sg / .sg
This is a known business strategy for domain name purchasing.
Last but not least, here’s the long awaited simple checklist for every entrepreneur to KICKSTART with their business with a digital presence. Let us know if we missed anything out!
1. Logo Design
Brand yourself, to be used on your name cards and websites
2. Name Card Printing
I would recommend good quality name card printing. If you drive to malaysia alot, just google malaysia printers, and get your name cards printed there. For the same budget as Singapore, you might be able to get a smaller quantity printed on good/unique paper quality.

It takes about 7~10 working days to get it printed. Min. order 300 pcs: 300gsm, Double Sided 4C x 4C with Double Sided SpotUV (a layer of sticker over optional areas like logos, does make your name card stand out from the crowd). The cost: $100 for 300 pcs (also known as 3 boxes of 100 pcs)
3. Website & Emails – domain name, email hosting
Brand yourself online, have a business email to reach out to new clients, and start SELLING!
